PENANJONG GARRISON, 20 December 2024 – The Training Institute Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF) commemorated the successful completion of Basic Military Training for 124 male recruits of the 175th Intake and 46 female recruits of the 59th Intake. The ceremony, held at the Parade Square, Penanjong Garrison, was graced by Yang Mulia Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin Bin Matserudin, RBN, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, as the Guest of Honour.

MUARA, Wednesday, 18 December 2024 – Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Amiel Azim bin Haji Afflon, RBN, CO KDB AFIAT and Lieutenant Dk Nur Bahirah binti Pg Hj Abdul Rahman, RBN, CO KDB MUSTAED were awarded the Royal Brunei Navy Command Badge. MUARA NAVAL BASE, Sunday, 15 December 2024 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) hosted a Family Day in conjunction with its 59th anniversary. It was a day filled with joy, love, and gratitude, where everyone came together as one big family. Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN, Acting Commander of RBN and his spouse, led the event as the Guest of Honour.

MUARA, Friday, 13 December 2024 – The closing ceremony for the Intermediate Navigation Officer Course (INOC) Serial 02/2024 was held at Nakhoda Ragam Hall, Naval Training Centre, where five (05) Royal Brunei Navy Fleet Executives were awarded certificates for the successful completion of the rigorous course. Attending as the Guest of Honour was the Acting Fleet Commander, Commander Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, RBN. Also in attendance were the Commanding Officers of participating ships, fleet officers, course instructors, and administrative personnel.

MUARA, Friday, 13th December 2024 – The Certificate Presentation and Closing Ceremony for the Senior NCO Leadership Course 2024 Session took place this morning at the Conference Room, Serasa Water Sports Complex, Royal Brunei Navy. Present as the Guest of Honour was Lieutenant Commander Pengiran Muhammad Saifullah Abdul Azim Bin Pengiran Abdullah, RBN, Officer Commanding Naval Training Development. Also in attendance were officers, the Acting Drill Sergeant Major, warrant officers, and instructors from the Leadership and Management Division of the Royal Brunei Navy.​

MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 06 December 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Water Polo and Swimming Championship 2024 officially concluded today at the RBN Swimming Pool, Muara Naval Base. The event began with the final round of the Water Polo match, where Armada ‘B’ defeat Armada ‘A’. This was followed by two swimming events: the 100m freestyle and the 4x50m freestyle relay. Armada ‘B’ emerged as the overall champion of the tournament, securing 9 gold medals and 2 silver medals.​

​MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 06 December 2024 – Brigadier General Sarah H. Russ, Mobilization Assistant to the J5, Director of Strategic Planning and Policy at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, visited the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) as part of the 17th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) programme. The 17th JDWC meeting between the United States of America and Brunei was held on 5 December 2024.​

​MUARA, Thursday, 05 December 2024 – Captain Khairil Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN, Acting Commander of the RBN attended the 11th Multilateral Maritime Virtual Key Leaders Engagement (KLE) hosted by Admiral Stephen T. Web Koehler, Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (USPACFLT). The KLE represents a virtual platform to communicate and discuss matters of mutual concerns, and in this series, discussions revolve around the theme of " Challenges and Opportunities in Naval Logistics Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific”.​

MUARA NAVY BASE, Thursday, 5 December 2024 – A group of twenty-eight (28) students and supervisors from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education Campus Jefri Bolkiah recently visited the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) for an educational tour. The visit commenced at the Bendahara Sakam Meeting Room, Naval Training Centre (NTC), where Lieutenant Commander Shahbillellah Ikhwan bin Haji Ramlee, RBN, together with personnel from the Human Resource Cell, warmly welcomed the group. He delivered an opening address, followed by a comprehensive briefing on career opportunities, roles, and responsibilities within the RBN.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, 4 December 2024 – Twenty-nine (29) participants from the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Session 2024 of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) had the opportunity to visit the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC). MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 29 November 2024 – KDB DARULAMAN and KDB SYAFAAT have successfully completed the 18-day Round-Borneo deployment. The ships were received by Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Captain Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN, during a homecoming ceremony. The deployed officers and crew disembarked the ships and performed sujud syukur to express gratitude to Allah SWT for their safe return. The ceremony continued with Doa Selamat and Doa Kesyukuran.

Muara Naval Base, Wednesday, 27 November 2024 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) hosted a series of educational visits from 26 to 27 November 2024, welcoming students and teachers from several local schools. Participating institutions included Sekolah Rendah Rimba III (Cluster 3), Sekolah Rendah Muda Hashim Tutong (Cluster 3), Sekolah Ugama Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, Kuala Belait, and Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Hasan.

MUARA, Tuesday 26 November 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) held the 2nd Navy-to-Navy Talks (NTNT) from 25 to 28 November 2024 in Brunei Darussalam. The meeting officially began on 26 November and was co-chaired by Captain Md Azrin bin Haji Mahmud, Chief of Staff of the Royal Brunei Navy, and Rear Admiral Chaksawat Saiwong, Director of the Office of Policy and Planning, Naval Operations Department, Royal Thai Navy.

SOUTH MIRAH WHARF, SURABAYA, REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA, Friday, 23 November 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) vessels KDB DARULAMAN and KDB SYAFAAT, alongside the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) vessels KRI FRANS KAISIEPO and KRI TOMBAK have concluded Exercise HELANG LAUT 21B/2024 sea phase with the closing ceremony held today at Majapahit Lounge, Second Fleet Command. The ceremony celebrated the successful completion of various maneouvers and training activities during the exercise.

MUARA, FRIDAY, 22 NOVEMBER 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Base Department celebrated the conversion to Islam of Ordinary Rate Mohd Shafiee bin Hamdan. Ordinary Rate Mohd Shafiee embraced Islam on 30th August 2024 at the Islamic Da'wah Centre, Brunei-Muara District. His formal conversion ceremony was held on 15th November 2024 at his parents’ residence in Kampong Pengkalan Dong, Tutong District.

Representing the RBN as Head of Delegation was Captain Mohammad Azrin bin Haji Mahmud, RBN, Chief of Staff, while the RSN delegation was led by Colonel Ooi Tjin Kai, Head of Naval Operations, RSN.

SURABAYA, REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA, MONDAY, 18 NOVEMBER 2024 – The opening ceremony of Exercise HELANG LAUT 21B/2024 was officiated today by Kapten (N) Rafael Dwinatu Anggono, Commander of Escort Squadron, Second Fleet of the Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Laut TNI-AL). The ceremony, held at the Auditorium of Pusat Latihan Kapal Perang Building, Komando Armada II, marked the beginning of the joint exercise between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and TNI-AL. In his opening address, Kapten (N) Rafael Dwinatu emphasized the importance of this exercise in enhancing military readiness and strengthening diplomatic ties between Brunei and Indonesia, contributing significantly to regional stability.

This distinguished five-week programme provided in-depth learning on leadership, public sector governance, international security, and digital transformation, equipping participants with advanced insights to contribute to Brunei’s defence and nation-building efforts.

MUARA NAVAL BASE, TUESDAY, 12 NOVEMBER 2024 – KDB DARULAMAN and KDB SYAFAAT set sail for a 17-day deployment from Muara Naval Base to Dermaga Jamrud, Surabaya, Indonesia, for the upcoming bilateral EXERCISE HELANG LAUT 21B/2024 with the Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut / TNI-AL). The exercise is scheduled to take place from 17th to 23rd November 2024.
